Our History The Jefferson Federation of Teachers (JFT) negotiated with the Jefferson Parish School Board (School Board) to create this Health & Welfare Fund to provide supplementary health benefits for you - active Bargaining Unit employees. After intense collective bargaining negotiations, this Health & Welfare Fund (Fund) was established in May 1983. |  | | Since then, we have remained committed to serving your needs by designing, communicating and administering health and welfare benefits. In fact, our Mission Statement is: to provide our participants with the highest quality benefits in an easily understood and accessible manner in order to respond to their employment and diverse needs. |  | Our Administration A joint board of Trustees, representing the JFT and the School Board, is responsible for establishing policy, level of benefits and administration of the Fund. There are 5 Union Trustees and 5 Management Trustees. Click here for the list of Trustees. The Fund is staffed with five full-time employees. |  |
